I joined the Labour Party because I believed it could be a vehicle for change, so that we could support those like my mum – a single parent who worked part-time while studying to give me the best start at life.
I may have been born under a Tory government, but it was Labour in power that gave me the opportunity to grow. That’s why I’ve campaigned at every election since, and why I am asking for your support to be our candidate at the next General Election.
This is my home, the issues that affect you, your family, neighbours and friends affect me too. It’s personal to me.
Working in the public sector, I saw day in, day out the impact of callous Tory cuts and of the SNP using Holyrood as a conveyor belt to pass budget cuts onto local services.
These are political choices, and while UK Labour fixes the foundations and delivers change across the UK, it is time for Scotland to take a new direction with a Scottish Labour government led by Anas Sarwar in Holyrood.
As my constituent, you will always be my first priority. I will be your voice in Holyrood; not Holyrood's voice in our community. I will bring your passions and ideas from the doorstep to the parliamentary chamber.
The campaigning starts the day after I am selected. I will make sure that Scottish Labour is a campaigning presence all year round in every corner of the constituency - there will be no off limit areas.
I will be an accessible, community focussed MSP. I will run a full-time constituency office and hold regular street and drop in surgeries that are accessible to you.
I will bring together the expertise of our local members as well as the campaigning expertise of our trade union colleagues to defeat the Tories and the SNP to deliver a new deal for Scottish workers.
Finally caught up on Series 3 of #BigBoys last night.
Truly some great television and credit to @JackRooke for letting us in on his university experiences and his friendships.
Congratulations to @LabourAidan and the @ScottishLabour team on a fantastic #LabourGain yesterday 🌹
NEW: Scottish Labour win local by-election after collapse of SNP vote.
Julia Hartley-Brewer clashes with Reform UK's Richard Tice as Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin begin talks to end the war in Ukraine.
@JuliaHB1: "Which part of Britain would you give away?"
Richard: "None at all."
Julia: "So it’s okay to give away a bit of Ukraine?"
We need to deliver a @ScottishLabour government in Holyrood so we can do the same across Scotland 🏴
New towns are about building communities, not just houses.
That’s why we’ll build the next generation of new towns with affordable housing, GP surgeries, schools and public transport.
Was your highlight getting outed for repeatedly kicking your missus while she was on the ground outside at nightclub at 2am?
